Jorrell Glass, owner of Prestige Signature Barbershop in the Twin Towers Mall in Downtown Peoria, shows off his homemade tie, a one-of-a kind accessory he created while making face masks during the COVID-19 quarantine. Glass owned another Prestige shop in the Northwoods Mall until the pandemic forced its closure. He also teaches barbering at Peoria Public Schools’ Woodruff Career & Technical Center.

A stray kitten makes its displeasure known to Heather Leman of Cats of Woodford County after Leman and Eryn Pearson rescued a litter from underneath a deck on a home in Roanoke. Pearson, a Woodford County deputy, has created Cats of Woodford County, a nonprofit group aimed at rescuing the burgeoning stray cat population in the county.
Chicago White Sox pennants, photos, signs, buttons and all manner of other tchotchkes and collectibles line the walls and shelves at Dale’s Barber Shop in Lacon. Barber and Sox superfan Dale Bruda sits in a trio of stadium seats pulled from the old Comiskey Park. Two of the seats are tied up for social distancing purposes.
Reese, a 4-year-old Chihuahua, howls at friends and foe alike from atop the roof of his owner’s East Bluff home. The tiny dog has taken a liking to the view from above and can often be found hanging out on the roof.
