Center Stage Academy of Dance has opened a second location at 316 S. Main Street in downtown Morton. However, village officials want to evict the academy because the location is not zoned for that type of business. The popular dance academy’s original location is at 117 West Jefferson Street.

STADIUM DEMOLITION – A Caterpillar Inc. excavator from Peoria-base N.E. Finch Co. demolishes the crumbling concrete visitors bleachers Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022 at Peoria Stadium in Peoria. Plans have been laid out to replace the seating in the spring, part of an $8 million renovation expected to be completed in 2024. The Peoria Stadium recreationg complex had humble beginnings in 1895 as a 1-mile oval track for horse racing. The Peoria School Board bought the facility in 1936 and converted it to a high school football stadium and track.

Plans have been laid out to replace the seating in the spring. Much of the old concrete was crumbling and large sections had to be closed off to the public.
STADIUM DEMOLITION – A plaque attached to the front of the visitors bleachers at Peoria Stadium commemorates its construction in 1936 and 1937 by the Works Progress Administration, a federal program set up to supply paid jobs to the unemployed during the Great Depression that usually involved the construction of public infrastructure like bridges, parks, schools and roads.
